DFE Abstract

Victoria Pham spent 12 weeks at the University of Pennsylvania conducting intensive research. She worked on two different projects, which correlate with her academic interests. One project was with Dr. Hamsa Bastani, PhD at Wharton School of Business. The project attempted to develop a deep learning algorithm for melanoma pre-screening via image data in resource-limited countries. Victoria’s other project is with Dr. Comron Saifi, MD, a spine surgeon at Penn Medicine. Victoria worked with spine surgeons to examine top causes in neck and lumbar fracture among various age groups. She also had a chance to attend several healthcare conferences and seminars. Victoria used these as conduits of opportunity to network with top professionals in the healthcare industry.
