DFE Abstract

As a legislative intern for Senator Joel Anderson from California Senate District 38th C, Tran K. Nguyen had the opportunity to emerge herself in the dynamic political environment in Sacramento, California. Tran gained experience responding to constituents’ phone calls, conducting researches for potential bills, attending and tracking votes on the Senate Floor and on the Senate Judiciary Committee Hearing, as well as keeping up-to-date the office’s co-author bill database and the Senator’s contact databases. Tran received her internship from APAPA (Asian Pacific Islander Americans Public Affairs Association), one of the largest non-profit, non-partisan, and grassroots organizations for Asian Americans in California. Tran is a Public Policy independent major. Her primary faculty sponsor was Dr. John Heyrman from Political Science Department and Dr. Peter Hackbert from EPG.
