DFE Abstract
Taylor spent ten weeks in the summer of 2015 as an intern at Virginia Cooperative Extension in Saluda, Virginia. Virginia Cooperative Extension aims to improve the lives and well being of people and communities in the state of Virginia by offering education programs in agriculture, farm management, parenting, personal finance, home management, and gardening. As an Agriculture and Natural Resources major, Taylor gained experience understanding how the Cooperative Extension system and the educational role local agents play in serving the educational needs of local citizens. Under the supervision of David Moore, the Unit Coordinator, Taylor gained hands on experience collaborating with grant writing and oral defense of the “On-Farm Test Plots” proposal to the Virginia Small Grains Board. Taylor's primary supervisor was Sean Clark and Dr. Peter Hackbert was his secondary supervisor. During Taylor's presentation, he will share his learning and growth experience related to the EPG abilities that he acquired at Virginia Cooperative Extension.
