DFE Abstract
Katelyn Blair interned at the Eastern Kentucky Child Care Coalition in Berea, KY. During her time at the EKCCC, she used data and interviews to construct publications that could be used as advocacy tools by the EKCCC, and created a video to use as a way to raise awareness about loss of state funding for childcare. In addition, she attended several advocacy meetings, helped with visits to certified in-home providers for the Food Program, and helped build a playground with the Promise Neighborhood initiative. Working June Widman, her supervisor, Kate learned and developed several valuable skills during her internship, including: expanding creativity facing ambiguity being flexible appealing to specific audiences, and utilizing resources. Kate is Berea native. Her primary sponsor was Ellen Burke, and secondary sponsor was Peter Hackbert.
