DFE Abstract

Jacob spent eight weeks out of his 2015 summer interning at LVL1 Hackerspace in Louisville, KY. Jacob experienced working with an open community lab and workshop democratically operated by its membership. As a Technology and Applied Design major, Jacob was able to work with 3D printers, laser cutters, electronics, mills, lathes, and other metal and wood working tools, which aided him in teaching and helping members build their own projects successfully. His primary supervisor was Dr. Gary Mahoney, and Dr. Peter Hackbert was his secondary supervisor. This internship was designed with the support of the Entrepreneurship for the Public Good program to aid in active learning outside of the classroom and into the career world. During his presentation, he will discuss his learning and growth related to the EPG abilities while also sharing information about the company’s interesting set up. Jacob can be reached through his website http://jacobaheller.com/.
