DFE Abstract

Faye interned for Owens & Minor (O&M) for eleven weeks. Completing her second summer with EPG, Faye traveled all the way from Huntsville, Alabama to embark on an unfamiliar but exciting adventure in Richmond, Virginia. Faye’s intern site supervisor was Bill Reid who served as both a manager and mentor and helped her better understand the culture of O&M. She also discovered what the business of healthcare logistics means to the company. One of Faye’s projects this summer included the Cost-to-Serve model to determine the profitability of certain customers. She also assisted with the development of an O&M class for the Financial Inventory team. Throughout the summer, she further developed her business and networking skills and the EPG abilities through both work within the company and Richmond events. Faye is a junior business administration. Professor Anthony Caldwell served as her primary sponsor and Dr. Peter Hackbert as her secondary sponsor.
