DFE Abstract

Dylan spent eight weeks in the summer of 2015 as an Editorial intern at SIERRA Magazine -- through the Sierra Club organization -- in San Francisco, California. The Sierra Club is now the nation's largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization -- with more than two million members and supporters. As an English (Writing) major and Business Administration minor, Dylan gained experience in magazine-style writing by producing blog posts and articles for the magazine's website and fact-checking all articles for the magazine, an important job that involves conducting follow-up phone interviews with article sources, as well as extensive research. This internship was designed with the support of the Entrepreneurship for the Public Good program, lead by Dr. Peter Hackbert, to aid in active learning outside of the classroom and into the career world. Dylan’s primary supervisor was Dr. Peter Hackbert and Jason Cohen was the secondary supervisor. During Dylan’s presentation, he will share his learning and growth experience related to the EPG abilities that he acquired at SIERRA Magazine.
