College & Community

Entrepreneurship for the Public Good is a program founded at Berea College, the first interracial and co-educational college in the south. Founded in 1855, Berea’s motto, God has made of one blood, all peoples of the earth, has directed the mission of the college to provide a top-ranked education to not only the Appalachian community in which the college sits, but to students from across the globe who exhibit a willingness to learn, work and serve.

For more than a century, Berea College’s tuition-free promise to all students has provided a path to higher education for those with high potential and financial need.

In Berea, Craft Your Adventure is the name of the game. Berea’s unique history of Arts and Crafts and continued dedication to supporting the arts within the community have rightfully earned the title of “Folk Arts and Craft Capital of Kentucky”. Berea’s charm doesn’t end there, though. Between the fascinating history of the town, wide variety of outdoor adventure options, and unique local shops and restaurants, Berea is often referred to as a perfect day trip or weekend getaway spot.
