DFE Abstract

During the summer of 2019, Mateo Diaz spent 9 weeks as an intern with Sustainable Business Ventures to promote and design an entrepreneurship ecosystem developmental program for the state of Kentucky. Sustainable Business Ventures is a nonprofit with the goal of helping difficult to employ individuals like underprivileged youth, ex-felons, and ex coal miners create their own jobs. As an intern, Mateo had to learn how a social venture like Sustainable Business Ventures can be financed and run. In addition, Mateo learned how to promote and market a program at the state level (29 counties).
