DFE Abstract

Keifer spent eight weeks in the summer of 2015 as an intern at Greenpeace in Washington, D.C. Greenpeace is the leading independent campaigning organization that uses peaceful protest and creative communication to expose global environmental problems and to promote solutions that are essential to a green and peaceful future. As a Computer Science major, Keifer gained experience expanding the reach of the organization and its campaigns online and have that engagement lead to real world actions that help win campaigns. Under the supervision of Ryan Schleeter, the Lead Online Organizer, Keifer gained hands on experience with the online team, allowing him to participate in meetings where marketing strategies are devised and to actively edit social media posts across several platforms. Keifer’s primary supervisor was Dr. Peter Hackbert and Jan Pearce was his secondary supervisor. During Keifer’s presentation, he will share his learning and growth experience related to the EPG abilities that he acquired at Greenpeace.
