Anna Keller

Anna

I joined EPG in order to increase my professionalism, poise, and connectedness in the Central Appalachian region. With the skills, habits, and connections I gain in EPG, I will live with more dignity and more effectively serve people who suffer under the current order of things. With others, I will continue to build peoples' power via overcoming health crises like the opined plague.

DFE Abstract

In 2018, Anna Keller interned with Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital in Lexington, KY. Over eight weeks she provided nursing care for patients with brain and spinal cord injuries. She administered medications, cared for extensive wounds, inserted and removed feeding tubes, and cared for tracheostomies. Of course, the people she nursed were not injuries and wounds, but whole beings with stories and dreams. Anna was dismissed from Berea's nursing program in December 2018 and hired by The Ridge Behavioral Health System, an inpatient psychiatric and addictions treatment hospital in Lexington, KY. For sixteen weeks, she ensured safety, led therapeutic groups, and assisted nurses with the care of children and adolescents aged five to eighteen. Together, these experiences strengthened Anna's confidence in her clinical skills, dedication to a nursing career with vulnerable patients, and commitment to professionalism with a human touch.
